Lock Hand Product Overview
The Lee Breech Lock Hand Press takes all of the great features of the Lee Hand Held Press and adds Lee’s convenient Breech Lock System that allows reloaders to quickly change dies without having to readjust dies. A full size hand held reloading press, yet the tool weighs only 1-1/2 lbs and costs so little; reloaders will want more than one. No matter how much reloading equipment a reloader has, it is a really great idea to have a portable hand press. No time is wasted mounting a tool to a work bench. When finished reloading, just pack it all away.

This hand press is substantial and well made. Works as it should. Even with my 62 year old hands, I had no problem using it. No issues accepting either my Redding or RCBS dies and shell holders. It is a modern version of hand presses used back in the late 1800’s for making reloads in the field. I purchased this hand press for the same reason. I also purchased a small metal tool box from H.D. to make a basic reloading kit with supplies to take into the field.

This works a lot better than I had expected. I have only used it on pistol caliber rounds, but has good leverage to do rifle rounds.

If a reloader is looking for a low-footprint, streamlined setup, they’re much better off mounting a standard single stage press and a powder measure to a board or a work desk. A decent single stage press, good dies, a hand primer, a powder measure, a set of calipers, and a scale makes for a well-rounded setup that can turn out a box of high quality, safe ammo in less than an hour. Portability has its benefits, though: being able to handle low-stress/low attention tasks like depriming just about anywhere is nice. Have a little spare time and a few hundred tumbled cases sitting around? Pop on a movie, deprime, and store the deprimed brass in a separate container. A portable press also makes it extremely easy to go to folks that might be interested in reloading to show them how it’s done. That’s why this is a 5-star setup. It stores in a smaller profile than any other press than the market, and you can make a “true” grab-and-go reloading bag with components, powder dippers, and a decent pocket scale.

I bought this press years ago when I got my first apartment in town and a bench mounted press was not convenient. I always was a green equipment guy and biased against lee but I’ll tell you what. This press ended up being the most useful, cost effective piece of reloading equipment I ever purchased. It followed me through several moves, is the only reason I could crank out ammo in on post housing in the army and is still my go to for hunting level batches of ammo. I just finished a small batch of .280 ai for rifle season and thought I’d leave a review since a guy at work wanted a link for this press. Highly recommend.

I think this may be the only tool that let’s you do single stage reloading without having to move furniture or set up a dedicated reloading table or stand. The hand press works as advertised. I’ve used it for .300 WSM and .45 Colt dies with no issues at all.
