I have been using this press for a few years now and still have not find a single reason to replace it. Paired with Lee dies I can acheve .25 MOA with a stock Tikka T3 barrel/action. I do not see a reason to spend 5x or 10x more on a more “modern” single or turret press. Save your money and use it on reloading components. I would probably buy a second one.. because why not.

I bought the 50th Anniversary kit as a starter kit. Ive been using the Lee Breech lock Challenger press hard for the last 2 years. I work 28 days on and 28 day off. When I’m off work, I fish and shoot. I’m normally at the range at least 3 days a week. Shooting 50 to 100 .308 rounds each trip. Those days go from range to reloading bench to be prepared for the next range day. My Lee breach lock works flawlessly and has continued to function that way for literally thousands of rounds in .308 alone. I also load 30-06, 6mm GT, 300 Weatherby, 7mm Rem mag, 357 mag, 44 mag, 45 acp and Colt. The breach lock die holders make swapping die’s quick and pretty accurate. Normally my sizing dies need no adjustment when swapping them in and out. On press priming is slow but also worked flawlessly. As for maintenance. I keep the ram clean and lubricated with light machine oil. If you are in the market for a really great press that is low priced, but not low on quality, look no further. Pull the trigger this press is for you. I’d venture to say it will last the typical reloader / hunter / occasional target shooter a life time.

Up until buying this press, I had been doing my loading with Lee Classic Loaders. I don’t need to produce thousands of rounds and I enjoy taking the time to inspect and oversee every part of the process to ensure safety and consistency. I bought this press when I got a 475 and it has so far proven to be a simple but very capable machine. Being cast aluminum, I wondered if it would feel weak or frail compared to iron. It doesn’t. It feels like it could hold up a car. Sizing brass is easy and smooth and the priming stroke seats primers respectably, though I think I still prefer my RCBS universal priming tool. I like the simplicity of this press; it has sped up my loading process (from the Lee Classic tools) but still allows precision and attention to every detail of every round. If you’re looking for precise loading with lots of control, this is a great option.

I bought this to replace a different press that had seen better days! Wanted an “O” style press, but didn’t want to spend a small fortune! This press fit the bill perfectly. I use it for reforming cases and all other reloading chores. Has worked great through a couple of thousand rounds and still going strong.
