VIHTAVUORI N310 POROUS HANDGUN POWDER
Well-known for its accuracy and extremely clean burning, the N310 is used by pistol shooters reloading calibers from .32 S&W Long Wadcutter up to .45 ACP and many others requiring accurate handgun loads. The N310 is our fastest burning handgun powder and the top choice for the competitive Bullseye pistol shooter.
Vihtavuori N310, known as N14 back in the old days, is a single-base, tubular powder type with grain dimensions of 0,7 mm length and 0,6 mm diameter. Thanks to its small size and almost symmetrical grain size, the powder flows smoothly and meters well in reloading measures. As with our other N300 series powders, N310 is a porous powder, in fact one of our most porous powder types. Porosity is a key factor influencing burning characteristics of powders; the more porous the powder, the faster the achieved burning rate.
Vihtavuori N310 in stock now is often used for light target loads, paired with light bullets, but it also works with heavier bullets.
As a very versatile powder, it is suitable also for loading shotshells
and is in fact used by shotgun ammunition manufacturers in their
premium cartridges with light 24 gram target loads. The N310 is also used by many blank ammunition manufacturers.

Look at any burn-rate chart & N310 is second or third from the top. Being so fast it isn’t versetal but if it fits your application probably nothing will do it better. I use N310 for a soft shooting 45 ACP load with Berry HBRN 185g platted bullets. I also use N320 for heavy 9mm revolver loads. I’vw also burned pounds of N330 in 9mm semi loads & some N350 for 38 SPL. VV powders meter beautifully thru a Dillon, are among the cleanest burning powders I’ve used, and give the velocities I want usually with single digit standard deviations. It is expensive but I keep using it.

Very good in my 45 ACP 1911 (5 inch). Vihtavuori also has great responses to Question.

This powder meters very accurately and is clean burning. It is hands down the most accurate powder I have used in 45ACP, in combination with 200 gr SWC cast bullets, in all my 1911’s. Bullseye is a close second. As load data is restricted on this site, just do some research and load development. Guns & Ammo ran an article titled “Favorite 1911 Handloads” which mentions load data and that this powder is or was one of Wilson Combats recommended accuracy loads in testing their production 1911’s. Highly recommended!

An excellent choice for pistol cartridge reloading. This and a heavy bullet gives the lightest possible recoil for any power factor. Clean burning. Meters very well. Draw-backs? Expensive and at times, unavailable. I use this for both .45 and 9mm loads.

An outstanding powder in the .45 Automatic. Very clean burning (IMO only Hodgdon Clays burns cleaner) along with target grade accuracy. Meters as good as Bullseye. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the price. Cheap it is not!

This is my favorite powder for .45 ACP. Very accurate with a soft recoil impulse. Meters extremely well. The only negative is it appears to be very sensitive to cold temperature.
